Food Irradiation

The use of irradiated energy to improve the safety of food is becoming more widely used food safety technology. As in the heat pasteurization of milk, the irradiation process greatly reduces but does not eliminate all bacteria. Food Security and Bioterrorism

There are a number of programs at Iowa State University doing risk assessments and conducting research about security throughout the food chain including work through the Food Safety Research Consortium and the ISU Center for Food Security and Public Health.
